1 play / 4 players LIKE: I enjoyed seeing which cards I to each round, then attempting to push my luck for one more card. I liked upgrading my cards and how the number of cards in the deck was limited. This is unlike other deck builders where the deck gets bigger, this one stays constant. DISLIKE: All the tiny text on all the cards, and to make matters worse, the cards are shiny which makes it difficult to see anything. The cards had high variance, so I found it very random. I also felt the variation of icons were limited, making each turn feel dull and rote. OVERALL: I'm not a huge fan of deckbuilders. This one was okay, but the small text was an extreme turnoff. The expansion added even more text, so for me, I didn't enjoy it. I suspect this to be better as a two-player game. Similar games: Splendor, Dominion

Mystic vale is the only deck building non cooperative game that can play more then 2 players. I enjoyed this game more then I thought I would. The idea that you will Only have 20 cards the whole game was such a different idea, with the card crafting mechanism and push your luck blew my mind. If you like deck building I would recommend this game to you.

I love the card crafting, it is a really awesome system with lots of legs. While I usually dislike push-your-luck in games, I like it here, because you always know the odds, and even busting has benefits (getting one spoil card out of your next hand, and refreshing that mana token), and because of the deck-building nature, the cost vs reward is easy (and interesting) to calculate ("With 4 I can buy this, but getting to 6 would be much greater"). However, my main problem with the game (which I still like, don't get me wrong) is that the actions you get to do are pretty boring. You get resources to spend, free discards, anti-spoils. The Guardians can get interesting and open room for strategy, but compare that with the non-plus cards from Dominion, and you'll yawn.
