I expected a gimmicky mess but found a surprisingly good deckbuilder. The idea of pushing your hand of cards open until you dare not risk it anymore is unique. You might end up turning over half of your deck before you even start your turn. The game left a desire to try and build some new card combos. We played by the official rules where the next player goes when its still the last player's prepping turn. Our three player game went by so fast that you never had time to focus what the other players were doing and hardly had time to catch a breath between your own turns! I would gladly slow things down with this one, which is the total opposite of how I usually feel with these multiplayer solitaire games.

1 play / 4 players LIKE: I enjoyed seeing which cards I to each round, then attempting to push my luck for one more card. I liked upgrading my cards and how the number of cards in the deck was limited. This is unlike other deck builders where the deck gets bigger, this one stays constant. DISLIKE: All the tiny text on all the cards, and to make matters worse, the cards are shiny which makes it difficult to see anything. The cards had high variance, so I found it very random. I also felt the variation of icons were limited, making each turn feel dull and rote. OVERALL: I'm not a huge fan of deckbuilders. This one was okay, but the small text was an extreme turnoff. The expansion added even more text, so for me, I didn't enjoy it. I suspect this to be better as a two-player game. Similar games: Splendor, Dominion

Hits the table quite often. Consider getting at least Vale of the Wild, if not other expansions, as the card supply can get repetitive. Can feel like it ends a turn or two too early; consider upping the victory point supply by a few if you feel the game is ending right when the "engine" has been built.
