From a mechanical perspective, there really isn't much in the way of meaningful decisions to make in the game, and some of the scenarios are loooong. But on the other hand, it's one of the most engaging storytelling games I've played, and doesn't *feel* anywhere near as long as Arkham / Eldritch even though it often is. The cost of buying not only the game, but enough scenarios to keep it interesting, is also fairly outrageous - and fortunately a burden I don't have to bear. A mixed bag which overall I seem to enjoy. Will become a staple part of my case for being an Omnigamer...

This is a fun coop game that uses an app to act as the gamemaster, revealing the layout of the mansion and the monsters/creatures/characters you encounter. The app is a nice touch in a lot of ways, in that it frees everybody up to be players, but it ends up absorbing or requiring a lot of focus. I find that the players all tend to crowd around the iPad reading the notes that the app issues. Perhaps if the app vocalized all of the notes instead, so the players just listened to it and reacted instead of obsessing over the iPad, it would solve my problem, but as it is now I found the app use to distract from the game.

Want to sell, waste of a lot of money as it is. The only reason MOM is on the top 100 of BGG is probably because most people get dazzled by the app. After some time you will get hit hard in the face by the enormous amount of time necessary to complete a scenario (3-5 hours at least, the time written on the box is considered without app time), the tedious mythos phase, the horrible madness mechanic and the useless clues the app gives you. Minis are mediocre at best but I heard that lately they have improved them after the original moulds were lost. Try it second hand, probably with some house rules it could be better. Be aware that there is an unofficial app called Valkyrie that allows use of fan-made scenarios.
