The first of the two Figure and Tile Collections, Recurring Nightmares, includes all eight investigator figures, eighteen plastic monster miniatures, and fifteen double-sided map tiles from the Mansions of Madness First Edition core game. Take on the role “Ashcan” Pete, the drifter, and make use of his loyal hound dog, Duke, or assume the attributes of Harvey Walters, the brilliant professor. With Recurring Nightmares in your collection, you may also encounter a host of long-forgotten monsters, such as the fearsome Chthonian or the unpredictable Maniac.
When you include the First Edition core set or Recurring Nightmares pieces in your game, you will also gain access to a brand new scenario. Tasked with solving the mystery of missing bodies from Hangman’s Hill Cemetery, you and your fellow investigators will need to explore the misty and sinister graveyard. You may find the corpses you seek, dead as they ever were, or perhaps some sinister reanimation of their bodies will find you first.

The comments for this set basically mirror those of the sister tile and figure collection, Suppressed Memories. The mix of tiles and monsters in this box is pretty solid, and the overall quantity of physical materials provided is good. The real reason why I can't rate this higher than a 6, despite my appreciation for FFG keeping these materials in print, is that they are woefully underutilized currently with only 1 bonus scenario being unlocked by this purchase. For the price (and given all of the 1st edition material they could have cribbed to make more scenarios) it really would have been nice to get at least 2-3 stories to go with the content, especially because the scenario included here, though topically popular (zombies...!) is also a 5 star difficulty level and this limits its accessibility and usefulness to us. Understand that I rate these expansions heavily based on the scenarios as to me most of the monsters are interchangeable and the additional tiles may or may not be used as map variations in other scenarios. FFG has been doing their best to support these kits by using them for more map variations; which does make them offer more value, but the lack of "specific to this box and its contents" scenarios is always going to be a sticking point for me with a $50 expansion like this. In general: I consider this and the other tile set, Suppressed Memories, to be extravagant purchases for people who are huge fans of the game or who have a lot of spare disposable income. I am a pretty big fan of the game, and am hopeful that DLC scenarios will continue to make use of the collections, but I would say these tile sets earn only a cautious, mild thumbs up and are not something that I would recommend to anyone on any gaming budget whatsoever. I think these will always remain the last logical purchase for most owners of the game. Scenario Comments (beware, spoilery stuff can be here): Dearly Departed - (Recurring Nightmares, 1 of 1) This is the only scenario included with the RN tile set. It is a zombie themed, heavily combat oriented scenario that is on the shorter side. In my only play of this with my fiancée we got wrecked pretty quickly because the scenario seems to spit out a lot of enemies and it is possible to get bogged down by them quickly. I don't know if that was just a function of our party size (2), rolling (don't remember), or if that is just an intended feature of this 5* difficulty scenario. Thematically seemed fun, will likely come back to it.

Couldn't resist once I found out that a) the first edition can be incorporated, and b) this is now run via an app making solo and full collaborative play possible. Sweet!
