With Lieutenant Packs for Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition, you can replace the game’s lieutenant tokens and bring the overlord’s most powerful agents to life. The Verminous Lieutenant Pack features a detailed plastic figure that places the scheming and mutated creature from Shadow of Nerekhall, on equal footing with Terrinoth’s champions.

Plastic figure to replace the cardboard token. Pros: + Nicely detailed figure + Plot Deck for Overloard Cons: - Too many threat tokens

At least one lieutenant pack is necessary for any Overlord playing Descent. The game is more than a bit unbalanced in favor of the heroes and these provide more options for the Overlord that might give him a bit of a fighting chance. These lieutenant packs contain a deck of cards, tokens, and a plastic miniature. The deck of cards provides the Overlord with some additional options by spending tokens that he earns through adventures. This eventually swings back in the favor of the heroes a little bit because after spending these tokens they are given to the heroes to use for small bonuses. An Overlord can only use one lieutenant pack per campaign so I haven't used them all but have bought many due to the awesome plastic miniature to replace the cardboard token representing most of the villains in the game. One day I plan to paint them all but that is more of a pipe dream than attainable goal...

This basically applies to all Lieutenant Packs. They are not necessary to play the game and therefore can be left on the shells. But the figures are good quality and will iprove the games. My only gripe is that they are sold one at a time and were not included in the base game.
