Bought this along with Mists of Bilehall to play them together as a new campaign. The hybrid classes are lazy and not especially interesting, the new monsters are pretty innovative and cool, especially if you like undead and the new "campaign" is very different and super hard. However, you do end up getting less for more money than a single big-box expansion... House rules level: See base game

I do not recommend getting The Chains that Rust or the Mists of Bilehall - they only add tiles and monsters to the grouping and the Campaign for both 'combines' into one two-act campaign (much like the standalone two-act campaigns from the base game, Nerekhall or Labyrinth). At some point there are just..too many monsters, tiles, effects, conditions, tokens to keep up with, and so I don't recommend getting Bilehall or Chains as they add too much to the game with too little return and eventually your entire set up becomes too burdensome. The other smaller expansions at least give you new hero choices/classes without the specific extras in cards solely for those expansion campaigns.

Wow - just wow. Simply put, this expansion is a masterpiece. Just look at the miniatures, c'mon! The overall "undeath" feeling is perfectly conveyed and the new monster models -truly- look terrifying. Their stats seem to be a little situational, but their in-game flow is perfect. However, what really makes this expansion shine over the other ones is its innovation. The new hybrid classes are surprisingly well-balanced, and bring a lot of new combinations for players who want to experiment with new champion-class combos. I totally loved the new Soulbinder deck, and ended up including the Scourge in every single game I've played so far. Having an Overlord's pet around the board really changes -everything- for both sides and it's a groundbreaking innovation. I can't but totally recommend this expansion.
