Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Rather painful to play. This and the Secret Name are quite the show stopper, and not in a good way. The story freezes, but the cycle also seems to miss the beats mechanically too - it’s too unrelenting, pressure without light and shade.

Running around the graveyard, trying to appease the dead spirits. Gets a bit repetitive, even though the goals do change from playthough to playthrough. As with most of the cycle, this too leaves me feeling kind of meh.

This one seemed a bit bookkeepy to me. I didn't get my encounter decks messed up, but sometimes various stacking effects can be overwhelming. Still a second playthrough made it much more fun as I better understood the nooks and crannies.
