Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails takes the familiar gameplay of Ticket to Ride and expands it across the globe — which means that you’ll be moving across water, of course, and that’s where the sails come in.

It's very similar to playing 2 games of ticket to ride simultaneously on 2 separate boards, with wild cards drawn in 1 game able to be used in the other. It takes twice as long as a normal game with roughly the same amount of fun. Overall, this is a significant step backwards for the Ticket to Ride franchise, offering a longer, less compelling game that's just plain less fun. I will not play again if I can avoid it. Note that this is a single play impression on the world map. The Great Lakes map might be more compelling. If I am asked to play this again, I'll ask for that map.

Game lasts longer, and boats add complexity. Also, lots and lots of different tickets, so no strategy to deny certain routes like in base game. I haven't decided if the additional length and complexity is more enjoyable than base game...

This one gets a bad rap. We enjoy it and the changes it introduces. It's very different than regular TTR with a *huge* board.
