Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Finally bought this for our game we have worn out over the years. I love the new destinations and the larger train cards are awesome.
This expansion....I didn't know what I was missing until I got it. It makes TTR soooo much more tense. The routes, there are so many of them, some of them are tiny, and you think, oh, I can do that easily, but you can't. You don't have enough trains, and they take up too many turns. Everyone is just stepping on each other's toes. It's great. I can't go back to vanilla TTR, unless I'm playing with kids.
Dramatically improves over base game in ticket variation, ticket balance, longest route bonus and card size.
