This expansion is not very challenging or tense for 3 players. Is probably better with 4-5p. Also, the majority of the 6 best routes are straight north-south routes, as opposed to criss-crossing routes that introduce overlap and confrontation. Also, it's another single-sided map, which bugs me in terms of variety, conserving shelf space, and packing games to play somewhere aside from at home.

The "plot twist" for this version of Ticket To Ride is the introduction of bridge tokens required for every route. Due to the low laying lands of Netherlands. Making sure you have enough money for tokens as you play the game is sort of interesting, but dealing with all the little tokens in your playing area is sort of annoying. Although the board is beautiful (as most Ticket To Ride boards are) the city names are VERY hard to read since their written in a scripty font. That on top of the fact that you've probably never heard of these places when playing the game, a ton of time is spent staring at the little maps on your tickets trying to figure out where you need to go.

While I'm starting to think no Ticket to Ride map will ever come close to the awesomeness of the Team Asia map, this one is definitely a keeper. The bridge tolls add one more thing to think about but don't add much complexity at all. It also appears that you can take a couple strategies on the tolls as well, because it is possible to just outscore other players strictly with destination tickets, so you might disregard the toll bonuses altogether. The map is beautiful, and I like that you can play it without using any special rules as well if you want. I only have 2 minor nitpicks with this expansion map. First of all, the box insert of the expansion doesn't have a hole big enough for the bag of toll tokens. Not a huge deal, but kind of annoying. Secondly, and considerably more irritating, the font on the destination cards is much different from the font on the board, making it difficult to locate the cities quickly. However, minor complaints aside, this is a quality map and I'll be keeping it unlike a couple of the other Ticket to Ride expansion maps.
