Great distillation. It maintains the basic strategic concepts of its predecessor while whittling away at the complexity to allow a lower age range to grapple with the details.

Great introductory into the ticket to ride franchise for younger players. Artwork was beautiful and colorful. Slightly streamlined rules, but enough strategy to keep adults engaged. As our children got older, we replace with Ticket to Ride Europe and already a big hit.

Despite being billed as a kids version of Ticket to Ride (a game I very much like), the game only removes in game scoring (and so the need to add numbers?) and shrinks the board. Else, this is identical to Ticket to Ride. As a result, I don't think it works as a kids game or if it does, so does the regular Ticket to Ride: completing tickets is the end game condition, but the complexity of routing from one city to the next is too complicated for younger kids - i.e. if they can figure that out, they probably can add too - so why not let them play the regular (and much better) game?
