Ticket to Ride: New York features the familiar gameplay from the Ticket to Ride game series — collect cards, claim routes, draw tickets — but on a scaled-down map of Manhattan that allows you to complete a game in no more than 15 minutes.

I think I actually preferred this to base game TTR. Quick and scratches the same itch! Always thought TTR was longer than what the gameplay justified— feeling to repetitive.

An interesting, quicker take on the original. Maybe too quick, for my tastes. Never seems to get going and it’s hard to know what to focus on.

When it comes to the variance and balance, this is probably one of the better sequels to the original TtR. When comparing with the original TtR, this version offers a better balance between long and short routes, an incentive to build early instead of just hoarding cards, and a smaller map better suited for fewer players. Moreover, does not have any really counterintuitive or complex rules which helps with maintaining the game well suited for families. It also plays really fast. However, this super fast game feels a little bit too short. Collecting sets and claiming routes is fun and here it end just a little bit too early.
