Ticket to Ride: New York features the familiar gameplay from the Ticket to Ride game series — collect cards, claim routes, draw tickets — but on a scaled-down map of Manhattan that allows you to complete a game in no more than 15 minutes.

When it comes to the variance and balance, this is probably one of the better sequels to the original TtR. When comparing with the original TtR, this version offers a better balance between long and short routes, an incentive to build early instead of just hoarding cards, and a smaller map better suited for fewer players. Moreover, does not have any really counterintuitive or complex rules which helps with maintaining the game well suited for families. It also plays really fast. However, this super fast game feels a little bit too short. Collecting sets and claiming routes is fun and here it end just a little bit too early.

Simple, fast and with enough of Ticket to Ride feeling, it is a TTR pocket game, TTR is already a gateway and the duration is already very fast, this version is a real filler. My concern about this game is that TTR (other versions) already play a lot of luck factor, but the game length is sufficient to mitigate a lot of the luck. TTR New York is very fast and luck can be a devastating factor, but it is ok, since it is a very fast game.

I got this for free after running a demo at GenCon 2018! This game is a fantastic filler game! It plays in 15 minutes and is very similar to the original Ticket to Ride.
