With elegantly simple gameplay, Ticket to Ride can be learned in under 15 minutes, while providing players with intense strategic and tactical decisions every turn. Players collect cards of various types of train cars they then use to claim railway routes in North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who fulfill Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities; and to the player who builds the longest continuous route.

I have played this one many more times than I've recorded. I think it is a fine gateway game, but I do not find it particularly engaging nor strategic. The value of laying down 5 or 6 link tracks is too high compared to ticket completion, which essentially breaks the game.

Fun, lighthearted game for 4-5 players. Good flow, decent strategy. Hits a strange note between strategy and luck. For the more part, strategy can win you the game. That is, unless you get the short routes... Or you are cut off... Anyway, that's why it's best for non-gamers and certainly worth a try for gamers too.

This was my gateway in to board gaming as a hobby. I owned other games before but they were if we didn't feel like playing magic. This game opened the door to making board games a hobby.
