I liked this a lot. It can make the game unbalanced, but it’s a fun Challenge. Adds more than the windgambit.

In theory this would be a great expansion. Creating varying starting conditions instead of playing on the same stale map. In practice though it can create weird balancing issues. For example we randomized a map that put the Nordic starting position nowhere near a single river tile, thus rendering their ability and consequently the faction completely useless. OK,you could switch the tile ,someone could argue ,and put some rivers closer to their starting position but then why would you not switch another tile to make another faction more viable to choose? And so on and so forth. You would have to have a group that is OK with houseruling parts of the setup for this to be a recommendable expansion.

OK - would not always suggest it. Not for new players or players who value game with equal changes to win. it does some times create some inbalanced maps.
