In Action Point (AP) Allowance System games, each player is allotted a certain amount of points per round. These points can be spent on available actions, until the player does not have enough remaining to "purchase" any more actions.
Action Point Allowance System
Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Very nice to play the balance faction! And the balance has been integrated in the game beautifully. Don't be fooled to think you are doing well by scoring nicely in the first few revelations. In the long run, the overall balance in the game is also important to avoid Bliss or Gloom getting to influential and win, instead of you ;)

I loved the idea of this expansion, trying to help out whichever team was behind and generally disrupting, but I really didn't like playing as balance. Everything is slightly harder and while you maybe also don't get targeted as much, it's also not always in your interest to do big swing plays so you have to temper yourself. The goals also either seem obviously easy or impossible depending on the board state, without you being able to do much. But the big problem is that I've only played this with 6 players. So much will happen between 6 rounds and you can do so little to affect it that you kind of lose agency in the game. Maybe I'd like this expansion for 3 players, but I also don't think it's bad to play 2 vs 1 so there's no real need. I also don't like that you play fewer rounds. You don't really get going and are forced to go for easy points.

Kind of cool to have a third player whose job it is to balance the other two players, scoring for how neutral the game ends up. Nice way to work in a third player for both gameplay and theme, although you are in danger of being a real kingmaker.
