Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Games using the line drawing mechanic involve the drawing of lines in one way or another. Lines may be used to connect objects as in Sprouts, to isolate objects, or to create areas as in the classic Dots and Dashes, also known as Square-it.

In my two plays, my Dino strategy was totally decided for me by the public goals. I had to follow the strategy for the entire play.

I wasn't such a fan of this roll and write despite generally considering myself a fan of the genre. It is definitely more fiddly than I'd like a roll/flip and write to be (though perhaps my opinion will change as more ambitious games of this type come through). Beyond the perceived fiddle another thing I didn't like has to do with the components. The colours on the player sheets are saturated to a point that, using the pencils provided in the game, it's asking a certain amount of eye strain to see what you're doing and makes the whole thing lose a lot of visual pop you might have asked for elsewhere. Adding to this that you may find yourself rubbing out what you've drawn to make a second attempt at a better move on your turn (which is reasonable in a game with this many potential moves each round) I found what I was staring at was at best not much different looking than the sheet as you peel it off or at worst a mess of partially rubbed out lines mixed with grey and green. My final complaint is the naming covention. I can't help but feel that the inclusion of "Welcome To" is intended to bring in players of that popular flip and write game. This is of course not a criticism of anything substantial to do with the game but it did irk me and has affected my score.
