Based on the award-winning Betrayal at House on the Hill board game, in Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate you’ll return to Baldur’s Gate again and again thanks to the fifty included scenarios only to discover it’s never the same game twice.
Can you and your party survive the madness, or will you succumb to the mayhem and split (or slaughter!) the party?

Although the theme is more fun, my experience was the same as with the original Betrayal at House on the Hill. This is not necessarily a bad game, but I have never had a session (10+ sessions?) that I truly enjoyed. 1) It relies a lot on 'push your luck' with items/omens. 2) The Escalation is unbelievably unbalanced, one way or another. We have never had an exciting game with any tactical decisions; the ending was always a steamroll. I love the theme of the game and the essence of the gameplay, but the execution is very poor in my opinion.

Don't really like this game - same as Haunted Hill which I traded it for. It's just moving around and collecting before the haunt that then lasts only 15% of total game time. But my kids love it.

It'll take a few more games to see if it gets up to a 10 for me, but right now it sure looks like it has the potential to get there! Great fun, great theme, great art, all of which reinforces the others. Go elsewhere for deep strategy, come here for a rollicking good time.
