Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The Druadan Forest is an enjoyable quest with some unique mechanisms and a setting not seen in any other quest. The Woses make their only appearance in the game to date as the antagonists in this quest, but in the end you have to reason with them in order to secure passage through their territory. This quest does get much harder the more players you add to the game, so be aware of that. As far as the player cards go, many of the cards in this set focus on mono-sphere decks, to mostly mediocre results. There are a couple of staple cards in this pack, though most of them, the hero included, leave something to be desired. You're probably not going to buy this pack for the player cards.

EXPANSION: Tough quest. Introduces a new mechanism, prowl. This quest is designed to steal your resources. Spend resources fast, they won't be around for future use. I did not bring any cards that cost above 3. No attachments because I would not have resources to keep them. No event cards that cost resources that trigger after the staging step. I had tons of allies in my decks. I got shredded by archery, do I need to swap some of my allies? Bring allies with more hit points. I brought Dunhere to counter the shadow card that brought enemy back to the staging area. Only used him once. Better choice? Always quest with at least 2 characters. Use allies to quest over heroes...if possible. Because there is a treachery card to remove 1 char from quest. If a player has no characters questing...remove all players from quest. I put Dwarf heroes in my deck and quested hard and fast...won during the 4th round.

Good new quest. Not blown away by the player cards, but the quest was fun. I felt bad killing the Pukel men early in the quest. The last stage you have to "convert" the Wose chief to convince him you aren't his enemy.
