Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.

An ok scenario pack..with the downside of being a completely standalone (in my understanding) to an otherwise campaign driven game..easily passable in my book

Enjoyed this one. It offers more theme than challenge, though (at least if you play a well-armed Guardian). I recommend some New Orleans jazz low in the background.

This is a fantastic expansion. I love the theme and the way it plays. The first part of the game is about minor annoyances as you get set to explore the deeper parts of the bayou. Once that happens, the Rougarou encounter deck gets added and the fun really begins. The Rougarou hops around the map, leaving clues as to where he's been. You can try to contain him or kill him. The locations play a huge part of this adventure so you need to play a few times to get a feel for them and how to use them to your advantage while minimizing the deleterious effects. Therein lies the fun. At first, it felt extremely hard, and it is hard, but it's definitely winnable. I've won via both victory conditions. Note: It costs 1XP to be allowed to play this.
