Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Across the Rhine
A much more meaningful expansion than the European one which wihile nice is hardly essential. This looks to have far more meat on it

Nectar makes this a great addition to the line. Essentially eases the collection of food stuffs to play certain birds. New birds also really enhance the deck.

Great expansion to one of my favorite games. I love the new birds, and the new end-of-game reward cards. The new player mats make it easier to collect food and bird cards, and they make it more difficult to collect eggs. In my opinion, the new mats are less balanced than the originals. I appreciate the effort to implement a new mechanic in regards to the nectar. However, I sometimes prefer to play without the end-of-round nectar bonus, the designation of nectar as a "wild" card, and the requirement of returning all nectar to the supply at the end of each round. Simply put, I wish the nectar was just an additional type of food that plays the same as the other foods. Overall, this is a very good expansion to one of my top 3 games, but I won't always use the nectar as intended when I bring Wingspan to the table.
