Adds time and complexity to an already long and complex base game. Also adds figurines to an already cluttered game board. Maybe too much for me to like it as much as the base game. I think a lot of what the base game abstracted through the use of event cards (Treeants, Eagles, Spiders) doesn't really need it's own faction and figures. The extra dice (and cards) add more length to the game, because they allow for extra actions (or extra events/combat cards).

Doesn't add much complexity, but it certainly gives more options. Together with LoME, WoME creates a very open game. The pairs of Battle Cards bring some good bluffing to combats too. Definitely an hour longer when the first two expansions are included. After 4 games of WotR with LoME and WoME incorporated, I can say that I would probably prefer to play with only LoME added (or just the base game alone). But only by a little. I do like the factions. I like that the WoME Ents help keep Isengard in check, and that the SP has greater mobility options with the Corsairs. Eagles battling Nazgûl is great thematically. However, the game becomes a bit fiddly, sprawling, and unfocused. Will have to play without WoME and see if I miss it.

War of the ring is one of my top 3 favorite games, what in my opinion would make the game even better is more armies and more ways to battle. This expansion does not really do that, the rules are too fiddly and really extend the game time by adding a lot of bulk and complexity that does not pay out in the end. Six factions can be divided in two categories, those that you work towards the whole game to get a strong impact one time. It's a fine idea, but takes too much work and is a constant distraction analyzing cards. You can't really get rid of cards you are simply not interested in and constantly have to wonder should I keep or discard. And second type are the ones who have slight impact many times during play. I feel like unless you are bored, this expansion adds more work than value.
