love the new options available to both sides to say nothing of the inclusion of my homegirl Galadriel. i guess Shadow gets the Balrog and Gothmog or whatever too. who cares? the cards are really, really cool. this expansion definitely tilts the balance a little more towards the Free Peoples Player but advantage is probably still to Shadow. i think once you add this and Warriors, however, the game favors Free Peoples Player. i need more plays, though.

Lords of Middle-Earth adds more dice and more miniatures. It also adds in characters such as Elrond and the Balrog and also adds alternate versions of several characters already in the game. Basically, this expansion adds a lot thematically which in turn makes the game more enjoyable. While I don't think you necessarily need the expansions for WotR; Lords of Middle-Earth takes the game up a few notches.

I would play with this expansion every time, adds just enough without adding too much rules overhead.
