Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The Jurassic Park conceit works quite well, and the matchup of Muldoon and the JP Raptors draws people in. Muldoon plays pretty straightforward. The Raptors seem to require a bit more creative play. This box's focus on a single IP does improve the experience over the initial Unmatched box. But the card draw still does restrain the game a bit more than I would prefer, even for how intentionally approachable the game is (and it takes five minutes at most to explain the game to a new player). I'm here not for the card play--it is basic and not all that exciting. I am here to explore the exceptional character flavor and the absurdity/joy of the matchups that can be created via the Unmatched series.

The set that got me into the system, and still two of my favorite characters to play as in Unmatched.
