Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Unmatched brings unique and different characters together for head-to-head battle with some great, thematic, asymmetric options. This set of four new heroes is very neat with some of the more mysterious characters here. Sherlock can read their opponent and predict their cards for big effects. Invisible man is very nimble and hides in the fog to great effect. Jekyl & Hyde can be a recovering, defensive, safe doctor or the dangerous, nasty alter ego, switching back and forth during the game. Dracula and his sisters are powerful though not too swift. But when Dracula gets you in his grasp, that can be big trouble. Two maps in this one with Baskerville Manor providing some unique, secret passages between areas of the board. * I record plays of this game under the original Unmatched game: Battle of Legends, Volume 1.

I believe this set is not as good as people say, Especially Sherlock is super weird and not fun to play. But so is the whole game after a while. Overall, my first impression of the game system was very good but worn out very fast and now I have zero interest to play Unmatched ever again.
