Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

What a gem! A fantastic production, per usual, from the Unmatched series. Stunning, poster-worthy art on every card and four more superbly-designed fighters. So much attention has gone into making the characters, their abilities, and the overall aesthetic feel thematic.

I've played a lot of games of Unmatched and this set seems the weakest when going against other sets. Perhaps the characters are balanced against each other within the set (haven't really tested that theory) but for sure they lose the most out of all the characters I own. Except for Buffy, who seems to hold up pretty well. We've had to make house rules for the other 3 characters in order to keep them in the game. Otherwise no one would want to play them. But on the positive side, there are some unique concepts in the design of the characters (as is the case with all the sets so far)

Unmatched brings unique and different characters together for head-to-head battle with some great, thematic, asymmetric options. I've seen some of this show, but not much. The characters are interesting though and it's fun to have more to use in the game. I look forward to getting a better understanding to how the characters were in the show to understand better why their mechanics work like they do. That's one big appeal of this game for me. * I record plays of this game under the original Unmatched game: Battle of Legends, Volume 1.
