Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Games where you repeat an action (or part of an action) until you decide to stop due to increased (or not) risk of losing points or your turn.

A world of peace has been torn asunder by the opening of a vile portal from the goblin kingdom. Nasty goblins pour into the peaceful groves and villages of the elf world, setting the realm ablaze. Now you, the heroes, must quest in order to right this wrong. There are two paths to victory: closing the portal or slaying all the goblins. Which one will you choose? Either way, your quests will be aided by the help of the surviving mushroom folk — and by the epic items that have been lost in the realm's deep dungeons. The world is ending quickly, so you must act fast to save it, but you also need to know when your luck will run out...

I absolutely love this game! I am so glad I got in on kick starter (a bit late but still). So in this game, there are two phases, day and night, in the day you position your heroes on temples/dungeons, goblin portals and spell shrines to set up what you do during the night, beating temples/dungeons, killing goblins, and learning spells. The hard part comes in deciding what to do to best suit you and the current quests available to complete for points. From all the play my copy has gone through, the pieces have held up rather well. The 'itemeeples' are a fantastic idea, and I have never had a problem with items falling out. I have tried this game with some younger kids, and it does seem to be a little too complicated for some of them. Usually if they play a lot of other games they are fine by round 2 of the game though All in all, I recommend giving this game a try.

A lot of game in a small box. Love the Zelda-like theme and the meeple equipment. After 20+ plays it gets repetitive tho
