France: Doubled the angst of wondering if people are going to take the tracks you want. Most tracks have no colour and you have to announce the colour you want it to be when picking up cards. You can’t place on a track that hasn’t had a colour chosen for it.

Definitely the gamers' version of TtR (although, Uk, Marklin and Africa all nod in that direction too). France is an excellent variant - exactly what the game needed - a truly fresh addition rather than another map that merely went half-heartedly into a change. Let's be clear - this absolutely will NOT suit the average family gathering and you couldn't play it with kids, beginners or your aunt Maud. However, stick this in with veteran TtR -ers or a gaming group and it's likely to be a big hit. Potentially extremely cut-throat. I'd say that the grey colours on the map are overdone and this may be a problem for some - especially since the map is very crowded. I have not played Old West yet, but the board looks great and I love the ide of Alvin starting in Roswell! Definitely one of the better issues in the Collection, though if you already have several, it may get a bit much to buy them all unless you are more of a collector than a gamer.

Old West: After the original dealing of tickets, players choose a home town and builds outward from there. Players can't just connect any two cities. This is an intriguing dilemma. Plus this can be played by six players.
