Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.

Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Love it. Adds a lot of rich content to the original game. Helps alleviate a lot of money concerns for players.

Agents of Venice purely serves groups who have exhausted the base game. Considering how much variability comes from Marco Polo's random setup and character abilities, I suspect very few need this expansion. The side board looks to be designed specifically to address the addition of a fifth player. The board module is easy to dismiss because the concept of shoehorning another player into such a beautifully tight and intricate design is likely fundamentally flawed. The round power module is a well thought out, clever addition the game. The caveat is that the module's impact feels a little overkill and seems like it stretches the game beyond the original's concise vision. I have major concerns with how the game's balance is affected by this module. Given the complexity of Marco Polo's design and the way the round powers are integrated, It would be nearly impossible to maintain the same level of balance the base game provided.

This took a game that I thought was just okay, and made it great. The bonus actions really unlock a lot of wiggle room that I thought was lacking in the original game. It also adds tension too, because there's a 2 in 8 or so chance that whatever I hope or am planning will be in the bonus action stack next round may not show up! Very awesome, took a game from a 5 to a 8 for me.
