Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

No other deck has the kind of destructive power this one has. In deathmatch, it's definitely unbalanced. In high form, it's incredibly dangerous: if you try to wipe your opponent off the board and fail, they'll be using flares every single turn; if you manage to break their board presence sufficiently, though, that won't matter. A really creative deck that expanded what a faction could be in a beautiful way.

Finally had a chance to play this after owning it for more than a year. Nothing particularly novel about this army -- the nethervoid is supposed to provide some different dynamics during summoning moments, but since only 2 or 4 cards refer to the nethervoid, it didn't really come into play.
