Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

prototype pnp judgement art looks great built and learned, seems good so far. hard to define what the pnp files are missing, I think at least the expansion and some trade ships Seems like it's not as deep as I hoped. Not rly a negative, I think I just go for slower strategies and I got killed. Id say this is a more thematic or dueling in your face 'dice city'. --this could also be due to it being the prototype--- Easy to learn, explain, and get playing. rulebook is large for what the game is but I can't rly say I'd want it smaller as it looks great. comes out to be just a little too much luck for me. It seems like some tiles are just a bit too good when your drawing what you are hoping for. Fun, looks good, but luck heavy

Played the prototype. It's a mix of Imperial Settlers and Machi Kori. It seemed like an interesting idea but it doesn't work well in execution. A very random game with very little input from the player. To put into perspective: You spend money to buy building cards that are drawn from a deck. After you spent resources to place these buildings, you must roll dice to see if they activate. In other words, there is a random element when acquiring new buildings and another random element to activate the buildings. With these two elements, the entire game felt like I wasn't in control the entire time resulted in a 45 minute game of chance. There are far better games within this 45-minute window that offers some random variance but the gameplay is still determined by the player's decisions such as Res Arcana. It's a pass.

beautiful, amazingly tight and well-developed game with a ton of variability and different scenarios. it's very easy to jump into playing but very hard to master. every choice is significant but even when you lose, it's still super fun to play. solo play is very challenging and thoroughly enjoyable.
