While empires rise and fall in Eastern Europa, the rest of the world takes notice. Two distant factions, Albion and Togawa, send emissaries to scout the land and employ their own distinct styles of conquering. The expansion works seamlessly with any version of Scythe.

I am not a huge fan of the two factions this expansion adds as I find them somewhat annoying to play, which makes the underpowered for inexperienced players. On the other hand, this expansion is kind of necessary for the game to feel 'complete' and I've enjoyed playing this game with the full 7 players. My general impression is that these two should have just been part of the base game.

The two classes are different from the first five. The Asian faction is my least favorite of them all. You really need to think differently when you play with it because they are slooooow.

The new factions felt less than half baked to me. The abilities of the core factions are almost always useful. The new factions have really situational and uninteresting abilities. And IMO their lack of speed is far more hurtful than the boost they get for not having a river. I think the game is better without them.
