Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Digital. I've played so many times on Android thinking: I must be missing something. At the end I didn't find anything for me.

+ Quick, tight worker-placement phase is simple but the addition of the various character cards that you can acquire and either employ or get the one-time benefit makes for great tough decisions; Raiding for loot vs. points is an interesting decision as well. - Quite a bit of set-up for a game like this. Why it's previously-owned: The set-up always feel overly daunting for a game of this weight. I found myself hoping that my friends wouldn't pick this game when it came around to their turn which was a weird realization. I'm hoping to get to try their digital version of this game as I feel that this would alleviate my major issue with the game.

Great resource management & worker placement game. I like the graphics and iconography is clear. Also both expansions (Hall of Heroes and Fields of Fame) are good, especially first one might be needed.
