PARKS: Nightfall Expansion
Expansion of:
PARKS
40m - 70m
1 - 5 Players
Ages 10+
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

End of the year cards are better, I also like the new Park cards and the tent mechanism is interesting. I would not say this expansion is essential, but it's nice to have.

Improves upon the base game in that it provides a few more ways to spend your resources before the end, so you're not sitting at your 12-resource limit as often. A backhanded compliment to the base game is that the insert was so perfect for it that it doesn't fit the expansion too, but untangling the Nightfall cards from the main deck of parks is a little more hassle than its worth, so from now on you'd have to use both boxes or abandon the beautiful insert, but it's a small inconvenience.

This expansion does what a good expansion should - it enhances the game while not drastically increasing the fiddliness or play time. The camp sites are a nice addition, rounding out the national park cards is a very welcome as well, but the new year cards are the major improvement in this. My only minor gripe is that the expansion doesn't really fit into the base game box, but when they put as much thought into the organization of the boxes as they did, I can easily overlook this. I will always play PARKS, my favorite game, with this expansion now.
