This is a hard one to grade, so it really deserves a long comment. Bought this for Summer for her 4th birthday, and immediately broke it out and played it. She's so excited to own her very own "big girl game". I'm doing my best to relax about the fact that some things are going to get creased that shouldn't, and some things are going to get water immediately spilled on them. I'm thinking I might buy a second copy that sits on the shelf for when she's older, has kids of her own, and wants to teach them how to board game. This one is GOING to get beat up. So what can be said about this game? It truly is "Scythe Light" which, honestly, I think makes it better than Scythe. Don't get me wrong, I like heavy games, but Scythe just felt like a kickstarter game run amok - chrome upon chrome upon chrome, and not a lot of substance. MLS manages to boil scythe down into a smaller decision space (making it easy to give a 4 year old 2 decisions every turn for "what do you want to do!?") and significantly lowers the play time - which again - is a very welcome removal from Scythe. Scythe is no TI, and doesn't have nearly the conflict that can sustain a long game. I like the themes for a little kid - "do you want to be nice, or mean?" and everything is super cutesy. I'm going to ignore that "being mean" usually involves getting a bigger bonus than being nice and helping. Finally, we need to talk about components: The components in this game are way nicer than they have any right to be. The pieces are nice and heavy (and unique!) the board is nice and mounted, and it comes with organization trays, which is a PHENOMENAL addition.... these are things I would expect out of a $100 game, but I picked it up for $35. It's one of the cheaper games I've purchased. I was originally going to rate this low, because it's based off of "how I feel" about the ruleset, and whether or not I enjoy playing it... but now that I think about it, this game is filling a need that I didn't even know was missing in my collection - something that I could start to hook my daughter into heavy games with. Well done by the designers!

Definitely getting the "rating as a kid's game" bump here but it's not entirely a kids game. It's simple enough that my 7 year old can absorb the rules and strategy pretty easily but there's just enough going on here that a mixed group of adults and kids would all enjoy themselves. Would I bring this out for a group of just adults? No...except maybe to show off the stellar components. Otherwise I'd just teach them Scythe.

[category: games for children] The game is very similar to "Scythe". Even though it is a game for children, everything is well balanced and there is not much randomness. The game has a pleasant atmosphere and is a family game, but you can always give up on nice politeness and complete tasks with brute force. A family game, more than for children, great possibilities of approach to strategy and style of play (depending on the age of opponents). The game is very good mechanically, it's actually a simplified "Scythe", anyone who has played it will know what it's about. Nicely made, interesting, especially for children there are tasks that enrich the adventure nature of the game.
