This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

A must have. Adds so much to the game I will never play without it. The true HF4 experience is with module 1,2 and 4 together. This one really unlocks the map. The thrusters are very fun to use and the cargo is so useful. The Futures (objectives) really adds a whole new level of strategy to the game and really pushes you to go farther into the darkest corners of the map.

Very tricky to rate this one. All the stuff added are good but the Futures are the big new thing here for me, however those cannot be played with without also having module 2. I would easily recommend this to anyone enjoying HF core but with the caveat that you will not get the full experience without also getting module 2.

[b]expansion[/b] • Great expansion. • (1) Freighters +Great. More realistic. As they removed the abstract "warp to LEO" operation. -But.. gameplay-wise, it slows the game down. • (2) GW thrusters are great... but TW thrusters kinda 50/50 • (3) Elevators = Good
