The expansion revolves around the new Diviner character, which is really boring to play as. It's primarily a support character, but many of her mechanics (the rift tokens and teleportation) are confusing and either underpowered or completely pointless. As a result, no one in my group ever wants to play as her. The new scenarios are complicated, require multiple phases of setup, are full of obtuse puzzles, and frequently involve translating more of those stupid runes with a decoder key that everyone hated in the original game. It all slows things to a halt and you'll be lucky to finish one of these scenarios in the same time as two of the older ones, with half the level of enjoyment. A big disappointment for a great base game.

It adds unnecessarily complexity by forcing players to jump through a series of pages as each scenario unfolds. In addition, version one has a very large errata to both cards and the scenario book.

Very cool once you ACTUALLY make it far enough in Gloomhaven to crack this open and try it out. Hate the class though. Otherwise it'd be a perfect 10. The class is just not able to handle any threats and no, "support your teammates" is not handling things. You're not really able to "support" enough to make up for being one less useful member. Music Note in the base game is just better. Or Moon. It's still really fun to use, no mistake, it just feels like a handicap. Again, the rest is super cool.
