Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Super crazy ridiculous adventure cards, absurdly punishing special tiles, and bonuses for doing it all without getting destroyed. Makes the base game difficult again, but can be combined with anything.
Golova
Solid expansion too - this one, if i am not mistaking, migrates over to the board game from its App implementation. Adds some volatile cargo, which being hazardous, brings great booty if delivered intact :) God luck! Also, additional extra Bad-Ass Adventure Deck (which is used with Missions). Solid Expansion - not for beginners.

2022-05-24 Initial Rating: 7.0 (May 2022) My desire to play Galaxy Trucker has been (slowly) declining over the years, I still have the game in a very high regard, and I still think I won´t ever sell it but, due to this, it took me over 6 years to finally play Galaxy Trucker: Missions. After I finally did, I can say it is a great expansion and I enjoyed it a lot! Galaxy Trucker: Missions´ rules are very easy to explain. If you are familiar with the base game, the new rules take less than 2 minutes to explain. Having said that, Galaxy Trucker: Missions is NOT for first timers or casual players as it really makes (or can make) the game a lot harder and frustrating (I like frustrating, punishing games). As the name implies, this expansion adds missions to the game. In a game session you will play with 3 missions, and they really change the game. In the round you have (to try) to fulfill the mission requirement which can be hard. Besides this, the expansion also has new super encounter cards which are ultra-hard and it also adds new cargo components you can choose to construct your ship. All the new cargo components are detrimental to you (obviously ) as you are rewarded if you finish the mission with them in your ship. The new components are: • Explosive cargo: If this cargo is destroyed, it also destroys the 8 adjacent squares. • Fragile Cargo: This cargo is destroyed if one of the eight adjacent components is destroyed. • Heavy Cargo: This cargo is VERY hard to handle, in my game I ignored it. The heavy cargo actively slows down your ship, so if you have a 3-level engine and a 3-level Heavy Cargo your ship cannot move in open space. • Radioactive Cargo: This cargo cannot be adjacent to any other radioactive cargo making it harder to haul. • Artifacts: This component is really evil. It deactivates the whole column or row (or both) in your ship. I also ignored this component in our game as it clearly requires a better player than me. Perhaps it is best to use it in a small ship, but in a big ship it deactivates a lot of components. I do like it though :D. I didn´t read the rules, but I used to play the app Galaxy Trucker, and, in that game, there were also missions, so I think this is the boardgame counterpart. If this is the case (and I´m not sure), I´m also not sure if the same missions appear in both the boardgame and the app. It would be nice if that was the case. Bottom line, I like what Galaxy Trucker: Missions brings to the table. The expansion certainly ramps up the difficulty level of the game and I approve. This expansion is not for casual players, but it adds new life to the game, and it forces you to construct your ship in different ways making you go outside your comfort zone (I love this). For now, I´m giving it the same rating I gave to the base game. Galaxy Trucker: Missions is a keeper for me. My desire to play it again is high. Current Rating: 7.0
