The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.
Campaign / Battle Card Driven
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.

Really enjoy the concept. Neighboorhood kids love to play this and levelling is so much fun! Its hard that the rules are so vague.

Played through one campaign with my boys and they wanted to immediately reset so they could pick different classes. Shows the attraction of this element of the game. I feel like it is kept just within the range of what is manageable in a family board game. Thought he gamer in me wants a deeper mechanical experience. I enjoyed it and my kids loved it. (9/2022) Campaign 1 Ranger 5, (Archer 3, Fighter 2) Beast Tamer 5, dark knight 1, (fighter 2, archer 1, mage 1) Skirmisher 5, Ninja 1, rogue 2, mage 1, archer 1 Finished with best ending.

Here is my take on my fav tabletop genre. Dungeon crawl RPGs work best when the mechanics focus on the players instead of combat or story. Not saying combat or story doesn’t matter. Because it does just as a priority characters should be absolutely first. Leveling, gear, items, abilities all need to be solid then combat and story can follow and you will have an excellent game. This game does that to an extent. It focuses heavily on the player first makes you feel strong. The leveling system is very innovative. It WILL be used in heavier systems I promise. The combat is light and the story is light. This game is great for me. But not for everyone. I’m someone who at my point in life I love dungeon crawls and my kids are just about old enough to play. This game is about as light of an dungeon crawl can get before I stop having fun. Then I can share this genre with my kids makes it amazing for me. Better story and more dynamic dungeon system would have pushed this higher but does it need to be the best? Nope. This sets out and accomplished everything it intended to do. Very fun. *after more play throughs this games combat system has proven to be very robust. How easy it is to set up and save. This has now become one of my favorite games. This game in retrospect is NOT a family weight game however it is beautiful in its simplicity. What a great game.
