A deck building game that centers around tribes of squirrels harvesting acorns in preparation for winter.
Theme: The winter is fast approaching and with the cold and snow comes a lack of food. The leaves are beginning to fall from the trees and with them the acorns. All of this means that it is time for the squirrel tribes inhabiting the forest to begin gathering food for the winter. There is just one problem! There is only one oak tree left in the forest making the much coveted acorns a source of warfare. The squirrel tribes have gathered their forces and have even resorted to hiring other forest animals to help them squirrel away as many nuts for the winter as possible. Gathering acorns is easy; protecting them from bands of raiders sent out by the other squirrel tribes is a different story. In Forest Fighters you will hire forest animals to help your tribe of squirrels gather and protect acorns while stealing acorns from your opponents. Once all of the acorns have been gathered, the game ends and the player with the most acorns wins.

This a very good game with a lot to like! From a designer lens, lots for me to learn from it. As a gamer, I find it a bit fiddly and slightly repetitive.

This is by far my most played game ever! The variability in different heroes, villains and decks that you can build is just truly insane. And the content does not stop, the designers have been continuously publishing amazing expansions for years. It may not be the most perfect game, but it's perfect to me and there's a reason I've dunked so many hours into this game!

# Black Panther - 8.5/10 A really solid, all-around great hero. He's pretty good fighting individual enemies, fighting groups of enemies, and thwarting. His gameplay hook has to do with equipping combo effects, then getting to activate the combo in sequence with the last effect doing some kind of bonus effect. It's a great mechanic that's easy to grasp and that lets you do some really great sequences, and it's flexible enough that he can usually do whatever is needed most at the time. I'd imagine that versatility is especially welcome when playing multiplayer with players that are using more swingy or high-risk heroes. His prebuilt deck was solid enough that I didn't have too much trouble beating the core Villains on Expert. # She-Hulk - 8.5/10 Honestly, community sentiment seems to be that she's the worst of the core heroes, so I was expecting a lot worse. She seemed pretty great. Her Alter Ego can prevent 1 Threat from being placed, and since you automatically deal 2 damage to an enemy when changing back it makes it significantly more justifiable to change forms. In fact I found I was doing it almost every turn. Plus Split Personality lets you change form again and draw up to your hand limit, which is fantastic. Combine that with some really hard-hitting attacks, a decent group attack, and some thwart, and it felt like she was pretty solid. Speaking of her hard-hitting attacks, One-Two Punch lets you ready her again after using ATK, and when your ATK is 3-4 and you've got 3 copies of One-Two Punch that only cost 1 each, it really adds up. I also really like Gamma Slam, letting you deal however much damage you've taken (up to 15), though unfortunately I had an easy enough time with She-Hulk that I never took enough damage to make it worthwhile to use. I guess my only complaints would be that she felt just a little bit uninteresting, since her core mechanics don't shake up the base formula much compared to a lot of other heroes, and her hand size sometimes restricts you from doing too many things on your turn. But that's hardly strong critique. I'd absolutely play her more. # Captain Marvel - 8/10 Her main quark seems to be charging Energy Channel up for huge attacks, which can absolutely devastate enemies. Her basic ability to heal in exchange for drawing a card is also excellent while also encouraging you to take damage. And since even in Alter Ego she can draw a card for free, and several other attacks and abilities give you free cards, hand size is rarely an issue. She's also really good at defending, which is something most heroes struggle with. For most, it's a real trade-off to DEF because you exhaust your hero and are giving up using ATK or THW. With Captain Marvel, the trade-off is more about how if you DEF and don't take damage then you can't heal, meaning you don't get your free card draw.
