Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

I guess I wasn't supposed to win this playing as the Romans my first time. But it felt so predictable. My high rating baffles me and was probably only out of respect for Ignacy. I do like drafting games and variable player powers, though. It definitely requires a replay, with more risk-taking, and perhaps two-player, before downgrading.

Take all the the good stuffs in the great 51th State and turned in a better game in a different scenario. Loving this little piece of Gold! Update: agora com a versão brasileira pela Funbox Jogos. Também com os bônus tiles. Aguardando as expansões que deixam este jogo AINDA melhor!

I enjoy the sense of escalation once you get your engine going. The biggest knock against it is that the fifth and final round can go on for too long; I end up feeling antsy during the fifth round (even in the single-player variant). I cringe at the imperial/colonialist theme, especially because it is entirely unnecessary.
