Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

❦ Solo Mode // [filepage=213395]Unofficial Solo Variant[/filepage] ❦ Required Play Space // 26" x 18" ❦ Setup Time // Almost None ❦ Play Time // 15 Minutes ✅ The artwork is fantastic and brings back memories of the important locations and characters from each movie. ✅ Each villain plays differently with various objectives and unique decks, offering up a handful of neat little puzzles. ✅ This solo variant uses the fate deck as a timer and ensures that gameplay moves very quickly from start to end. ✅ Gameplay is pretty straightforward with mostly intuitive rules and most of the information directly on the cards. ✅ Villain guides provide clever ways to explain the main elements of each villain and help provide basic strategy tips. ✅ Everything remains pretty compact, both in terms of the required play space and the time needed to play. ❌ A villain usually takes a couple of tries to win as, and then there isn’t much of an incentive to play as the same one. ❌ Luck is very prevalent, with some villains relying on cards to be near the top of their decks in order to win quickly. ❌ Despite the amazing artwork and overall theme, gameplay doesn’t feel that thematic aside from a bit of nostalgia. ❌ Although the villains are very different, the location actions end up feeling pretty monotonous in general. Light fun but unbalanced. I would not play with more than 3. Attack the leader is very present and game beyond that player count just goes on forever.

+ The theme comes through in a clever, natural way through the cards and character abilities; The asymmetry between villains makes this one just deep and interesting enough to push it into the enjoyable realm for me. - Players have a tough time grasping their individual character's strengths and weaknesses the first time playing. Why it's previously-owned: The balance between villains felt just a bit off. Additionally, it is just a bit more of a game than you can throw at a non-gamer since they have their own individual goals and cards and interactions, but it wasn't robust enough for us to come back to for a full game night.
