Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

Theme for days on this one - and the theme works, makes sense, and creates some great variability for each player to play their own way.

A fun gimmick for any Disney fans out there but nowhere close to being an actual game I would buy and play on a regular basis.

Villainous has an incredibly appealing theme that has undoubtedly led to high sales. It was certainly one of my gateway games when I started getting into the hobby, and I still enjoy it from time. For me, it's either a two or three player game: best at three. I actually have reworked this as a solo game where I play the Fate cards against myself just to learn the decks, but I wouldn't recommend that unless you really need a Disney fix during your quarantine. Anyway, the core of the game is fun, each of the villains are well designed and highly thematic, the production knocks it out of the park. It's just overly long and probably more complex to be a true Gateway game.
