Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

Villainous is a fun game that's not too overly complex and has decent replayability with the amount of characters that come in the base game plus any expansions you get. The main problem with the game is some of the characters are very difficult to win with, while some are very easy to win with, and the game already takes a decent amount of time (especially if your group uses the fate action a lot) and only increases in larger groups. The game may be 2-6 players, but we found anything above 4 to really drag on.

This is one of the better expansions (or stand-alone games); I really like to play as and against The Evil Queen, she's definitely the most interesting! Hades is cool, but very hard to win with... On the other hand, we have Dr. Facilier which seems too good as he can basically win in a couple of turns if he gets lucky, which seems very anticlimatic... I also dislike his playstyle. Still, a good expansion to add some interesting and very different playstyles to Villainous!

All the characters in this expansion are great. We played a game in which the Evil Queen, Hades and Dr. Facilier were all within one turn of winning and Hades squeaked it out. There is certainly sufficient randomness and luck but that game will stand out as an example of how balanced the characters can be when the stars align, though I know from past experience Villainous doesn't always work that way. I accept chance and enjoy the ride regardless.
