Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

This is the first and will be the last Villainous game played in my home. The gameplay of having your progress unravelled and then to repeatedly go through the same motions what you’ve already done once, twice, or three times before a winner is declared, is not very fun, it gets tiresome fast after the second time it happens, and it will happen to everyone at least twice before a winner is declared if our game was any indication. The mechanics of the game are random and repetitive. And yet, for how complicated (at least for my 11 year old) the mechanics are, this game is not as strategic as you would expect from all the variables to control, since far too often you are dependent (victim to?) upon those random mechanics.

Villainous is a fun game that's not too overly complex and has decent replayability with the amount of characters that come in the base game plus any expansions you get. The main problem with the game is some of the characters are very difficult to win with, while some are very easy to win with, and the game already takes a decent amount of time (especially if your group uses the fate action a lot) and only increases in larger groups. The game may be 2-6 players, but we found anything above 4 to really drag on.

I really love 2 out of 3 in this expansion, but Gaston is entirely too easy to play as. He wins 99% of battles he is in regardless of who he plays against and that isn't my favorite... Especially when I feel like so much could have been done with his character. This expansion could have easily scored a 8 but I just really cant wrap my mind around the Gaston issue.
