DECEBO
Compilation of expansions; personally I think the new possibilities are a forced attempt to create more expansions; they do not make the game better; owning the scout and certainly the king offers a too big advantage: 1 extra point for each completed road/city; further this expansion offers river tiles and cult tiles (for a challenge when a cloister and a cult are adjacent); the Count adds possibilities to share in scoring or prevent another player from scoring with help of the 12-tile town of Carcassonne itself.

Half of the expansion owned. Bought the 12 tile set of King & Robber + the Cult on e-bay. Most certainly from a "split" game. Used in my travel Carcassonne.

(From Big Box 2009.) 2010-04-14 (rating 9): Great expansion. Count is a very interesting mechanic. Now closing opponents structures is even more tempting than it was with trade goods from Traders & Builders. However note that this is not an expansion for everyone. It makes the game far more aggressive. In game like Carcassonne many players don't like it this way. Pity that the Carcassonn city does not fit on entire edge (any) with [gameid=45748] but that is a problem with [gameid=45748] since it was released later. Luckily they can be connected just not with entire edges. Both King and Scout are good. Now the game becomes more challenging. Should I close opponents structure (city or road) to gain King/Scout? Or try to block him/her to not close it at all? Also Scout is yet another way of giving more power to roads. River II is similar to [gameid=2591] so my opinions are similar as well. It does not break meadows as much as I expected. And it adds some complexity to the rules by having two pools of tiles (first the river, then normal tiles) and additional rules of how the river can be placed (no U-turns and so on). On the other hand the river itself looks nice after the game is finished. Maybe it would be interesting to play with the river tiles (possibly more then one set) mixed into normal pool of tiles. I have to try it out. Cult is fine although it often happens that we forget the rule forbidding to place a cult place or a cloister next to two opposite tiles. We rarely see fight between heretics and monks and except for those two things this is just like cloister. So nothing new.
