Charring and then devouring another player's serf while he's just trying to till his oats is a simply glorious addition to the base game. That farm you had? Yeah those crops are now popcorn. The dragon is chaotic and scary. The fairy adds another decision to make. But the Princess, I love her. Evicting another man's meeple from a juicy high-scoring city with the princess is every bit as satisfying as the dragon burning and eating his villages.
Amber Kraken
The Dragon is great fun! And having the 'fairy' around is helpful, but scoring a point for every turn you start with her really breaks up the normally fast paced game. The princess pieces are kind of useful but don't add too much (but then again don't come up that often either.)

The expansion for when you want to incinerate your opponents meeples. It is take-that that is fairly triggered almost arbitrarily depending on the tiles you draw and is just annoying to play with. Control of the fairy changes so often that it just becomes pointless to keep track of. Carcassonne already has enough in your face interaction, so there was no real need for this expansion.
