Sleeping Gods: Primeval Peril
120m - 240m
1 - 2 Players
Ages 13+
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
In storytelling games, players are provided with conceptual, written, or pictorial stimuli which must be incorporated into a story of the players' creation.

What a wonderful journey. It is of cause shorter and not as complex as Sleeping gods, but still confers a certain sense of wonder. It is difficult - as I expected. What I don't like is that in case of defeat or running out of time, it simply ends - no end credits, no nothing, it is just over. But that is nitpicking.

Great fast Sleeping Gods-esque game. Some interesting replayability, not nearly as much as big brother though. This is good when you are on a time crunch and want a quick end to end story.

There isn't a lot of replayability here. Even with the extra card for each subsequent run, this is a story game and I don't see it being very interesting on the third, fourth, etc. play. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the two plays I did get out of it, especially since I focused on different areas of the map for each. The mechanics are clever but not overly complicated, the leveling-up system is nice, and the story is short but well-written. All-in-all a great game if you manage your expectations and treat it more as a one-shot in the Sleeping Gods universe.
