Betrayal Legacy
Betrayal Legacy marries the concept of Betrayal at House on the Hill with the permanency and multi-game storytelling. Betrayal Legacy consists of a prologue and a thirteen-chapter story that takes place over decades. Players represent families, with specific members of a family participating in one story, then perhaps an older version of those characters or their descendants showing up in later stories.

I'd consider this a 10 for the single-playthrough Legacy mode, and a 7/8 for Free Play (post-campaign). It's absolutely the best version of Betrayal ever made.

It's Betrayal, you likely know whether or not you enjoy the thematic horror, the dice-rolling, the vague rules, etc (I do). The Legacy aspect makes it a wonderful experience, I have a fantastic time with my friends while playing and love watching our house change based on the results of our game. Choice is hardly the deciding factor, more just luck and each sessions winner, but still very fun. I'll update as we get farther into the campaign. My suggestion: When adding cards to the game, write on them from what haunt they came, and a little bit of the flavor the game gives you as to the reason each card appears. We never remember the details from the thematic entries or which cards they introduce, so it helps remind us where cards came from, and of our journey together!

So far, the haunts have been better than betrayal by a lot! I definitely will play this over betrayal any day. If you dislike betrayal and do not like the story element of things changing over time, this is likely not for you. It works very well with my game group. A new favorite, for sure! Update at end of campaign: I feel like the haunts do not really build cohesively to the final story. I also felt like a lot of the cards were not tied together to really draw us into an overarching arc. I loved the red herrings throughout the story, but was a little underwhelmed with the final story. I appreciated the haunts that had no traitors or hidden traitors the most! That was a lot of fun!
