Betrayal Legacy
Betrayal Legacy marries the concept of Betrayal at House on the Hill with the permanency and multi-game storytelling. Betrayal Legacy consists of a prologue and a thirteen-chapter story that takes place over decades. Players represent families, with specific members of a family participating in one story, then perhaps an older version of those characters or their descendants showing up in later stories.

As a story driven experience this is enjoyable. As a game, especially a legacy game, it disappoints. The legacy aspects are minimal as you essentially play regular ol' Betrayal 14 times. Sure, new rooms are added as well as new items and events and such but it's largely just more of the same. Also, your character never changes whatsoever which I feel is a big missed opportunity in terms of a legacy experience. The game is just as random...arguably more random even...that the original. The game basically plays you and you're just along for the ride. This is definitely better than BaHotH as the rules are a bit smoother and the legacy aspects are fun but it's still very much the unbalanced, random mess of the original. If you're ok with that then this will be really fun for you. I myself would have preferred stronger legacy mechanics and more story-driven curveballs which this doesn't deliver.

It’s a 10 until the campaign is done. And while I am totally for playing another fresh campaign with a fresh group.... the goal of having the game playable post campaign is misguided. yes it is better than the old version of betrayal on the house on the hill. But the “in jokes and references” that are fun for the owner to experience every time they play after the campaign is over, for anyone else in the group, it’s just a uneven experience. They will feel off or guilty that they didn’t have that experience and that the game owner might come off as selfish for Persuing that experience again. 10/10 during the campaign. Will play another campaign when done. But it honestly is equal to house when it’s all done, and has potential to be hurtful if brought out in the wrong context.
